Zaragoza. March 29th 2023. Kira Ventures has invested in Libelium, attracted by the company's commitment to sustainability and its ability to offer innovative solutions that address environmental challenges. This vision is shared by Libelium's other investor partners, Axon Partners, who entered the capital in June 2021.

With this investment, Libelium incorporates the experience and knowledge of Kira Ventures, an investment firm specialized in supporting the growth of companies that promote the transition to an environmentally sustainable economic model. In addition, it will allow Libelium to strengthen its international expansion and drive the strategic projects recently won by the company in the Middle East, such as the air quality measurement project in Neom, the linear city in northern Saudi Arabia that will be powered entirely by renewable energy sources, and the development of an intelligent parking network in the country with 1,500 Libelium nodes. The IoT company based in Zaragoza will seek to consolidate itself as a key player in this region, contributing its experience and technology to drive IoT projects that help in their ecological transition.

Libelium thus becomes a job generator in its two seats in Aragón and Murcia since it will need to increase its staff by more than 10% to tackle these and other projects already on the horizon.

Libelium's capital is composed of Alicia Asín, the company's founding partner, Antonio Jara, who joined the capital after the acquisition of his company HOPU in 2022, and the investor partners Axon Partners (since 2021), EIT Urban Mobility (since 2022) and Kira Ventures (2023).

"We are very excited to welcome Kira Ventures as an investor in Libelium," said Alicia Asín, CEO of Libelium. "We share the same vision and together we can accelerate the development and implementation of smart cities and sustainability projects that we have on the horizon."

Mario Sancho, CEO of Kira Ventures, said: "We are very happy to become travel companions of Libelium. Technology is a fundamental tool to advance in the energy transition, and Libelium's experience in the development of intelligent solutions will be key to driving more sustainable and profitable cities and companies."

Kira Ventures' investment in Libelium comes after Axon Partners' investment, reinforcing its inorganic growth strategy through the acquisition of companies that consolidate its positioning in different verticals and new markets. Recently, Libelium has acquired HOPU, a leading company in intelligent solutions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

The law firm De Carlos Remón has advised Kira Ventures in the operation, while Libelium has been advised by Cuatrecasas.
